The Beginning
If you have ever been to the island of Oahu Hawaii and you haven’t been to Bailey’s Antiques, then it is a must upon your next visit.
This was the beginning of the importing of Hawaiian shirts for Aloha Australia.
Situated on Kapahulu Ave away from the main tourist strip of Kalakaua Ave you will find Bailey’s Antiques, hard to miss with a giant Hawaiian shirt adorning the roof of their painted pink shop. Here you will find over 15,000 Aloha shirts of varying prices from $15US to over $1,500US depending on their age and uniqueness.
One day back in May 2016, I met up with the owner of Bailey’s Antiques to discuss importing Aloha shirts to Australia. While I was there, Robert the owner of RJC Hawaii came into the store to take an order. I was introduced to Robert and it was suggest I could buy directly from Robert. We discussed shirts and what I was looking for, so Robert and I arranged a time to meet a few days later at the factory in Aiea in the centre of Oahu.
I was blown away at the range of shirts and the knowledge of the staff in locating styles and sizes, just by their number codes in the large expansive space.
I returned to Australia with a bag bursting with Aloha shirts that made their debut in my store, Tulum Store at Balnarring Beach when it open in November 2016.
Since 2016, I have made many a return trip to Oahu to personally pick out shirts for the store and meet up with Robert and his staff, all of whom have been introduced to Tim Tams and Caramello Koalas.
Up to the Now
Since selling Tulum Store I have continued to import the shirts and sell online, shipping anywhere in Australia the high quality authentic Hawaiian shirts by RJC Hawaii a stayer in the Aloha shirt industry, run by Ohana (family) and operating for the past 70 years.
If you are celebrating a special event and are needing larger numbers and multiple sizes, please allow 4 weeks for delivery to you from date of order as I will need to order them in especially.
